The term light electric vehicles (LEVs) is a container term in urban mobility. It concerns a wide range of vehicles, from an electric (cargo) bike to a light electric cargo vehicle and everything in between. Light electric vehicles have the potential to make a positive contribution to the city, says Amsterdam alderwoman Sharon Dijksma.
According to Dutch research institute TNO, the safety level of the Stint is not sufficient for passenger and freight transport. A study conducted by TNO presents risks for the safety of the driver and passengers of the Stint.
Dutch Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water) has decided to take the Stint, the electric car with which the children were transported during the tragic accident in Oss (NL), off the roads. Preliminary results from the research on the Stint point to ‘potential safety risks’.
