The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and the University of Amsterdam have a total of 80 college buildings in Amsterdam, all of these buildings need to be supplied with goods almost daily. The educational institutes joined forces with Deudekom and PostNL and created a logistics hub just outside of Amsterdam.
Ducth PostNL will purchase e-bikes for all 18,000 mail deliverers. In this way, they can make longer postal rounds in the future. In urban areas with a lot of mail, it concerns electric cargo bikes, in quieter regions around normal e-bikes.
PostNL is replacing 20 car trips with diesel delivery vans in Utrecht (NL) every day through more sustainable delivery with electric cargo bikes and light electric vehicles. PostNL previously did this in Amsterdam (NL). PostNL delivers business mail and empties more than 150 letter boxes in the city.
City logistics makes an important contribution to the quality of life that people experience in cities. The liveability of cities is under pressure, partly caused by growing number of ‘last mile’ E-commerce deliveries. Various (f)actors involved in the last mile have led to smart initiatives in the sector.

Every year, households throw away hundreds of thousands of electronic devices. Weeelectric came up with a solution for this issue. During this pilot, PostNL picks up used small electronic devices at households in Amsterdam, Haarlem, Dordrecht and Groningen (NL). Weeelectric takes care of recycling.
