On July 29, 2019, the Municipality of Nuenen in the Netherlands started LTC Temporary Traffic Management. By automating the application process for temporary traffic measures, Nuenen saves valuable time. All requests for temporary traffic measures now also come in via one central location.
Dutch entrepreneurs Beelen and van der Wallen invest € 160 million in a logistics center in the Port of Amsterdam. Via a new distribution location on the North Sea Canal, they want to support environmentally-friendly delivery of packages, building materials, and catering supplies over the waterways.
UK shoppers have left £228 mln worth of uncollected products at click-and-collect sites in the last year due to long queues and understaffed collection points. Research by Barclaycard found that more than 70 percent of UK consumers shop via a click and collect system, whereby they order products online and collect them at a local branch or collection site.
Uber Technologies said it’s in discussions with European supermarkets to roll out a grocery delivery service. Uber has spoken with the UK’s second-biggest grocer J Sainsbury. The supermarket operator earlier announced it was partnering with Deliveroo to bring hot pizza to homes in four British cities.
Just Eat and Takeaway.com, two of the bigger take-out and delivery businesses in Europe, announced they are in the ‘advanced stages’ of a merger. The deal would help them combine forces and take on more scale to compete better with Uber Eats and Amazon-backed Deliveroo.
