Ahold Delhaize’s Stop & Shop is updating its brand to make grocery shopping easier. The update is designed to improve the in-store experience with a focus on more fresh and healthy options and improved digital solutions. Part of the update is the introduction of robots for click and collect at special Stop & Shop pick-up points.
Warehouse robots
At Stop & Shop customers can order online via an app or website. The warehouse robot can then immediately start filling the shopping basket. The order is ready to be collected at the moment the customer wishes. By leveraging the Automated Micro Fulfillment Centers, this Brick-and-Click model operates at a low cost-to-serve for both consumers and retail partners. It is a good solution for fast hyper-local fulfillment.
Takeoff, the supplier of the robots, is an e-grocery solution that supports retailers to attain profitable online growth by leveraging automation at a hyperlocal scale. Orders are placed online through established retailers (using their existing e-commerce platform or Takeoff’s customized UI solution), and Takeoff’s automated technology fulfills the order using robots in micro fulfillment centers.
