The CART Pitch Event presented by US dunnhumby and Winsight Grocery Business reviewed hundreds of solutions to arrive at the winner: udelv, the first custom-made, public-road autonomous and electric delivery vehicle.
The CART Pitch Event casted a pretty large net to see what retailers, wholesalers and brands were most interested in and panelists representing about 20,000 US retail stores reviewed some of the most innovative tech companies coming into retail to arrive at the result.
Finalists included:
- PopSpots: computer vision managing checkout out-of-stocks
- Brain Corp: AI for robots in-store starting with floor cleaners
- BeeHex: Nasa-funded research turned 3D printers focused on bakery production.
Given the sheer volume, CART processed the initial applications to make sure applicants met the appropriate criterion. Panelists then spent hours reviewing each solution. There were ten main areas through which the applicants were scored including: target market, problem or need, solution details, team, stability, competition, business model, strategy, engagement potential and an all inclusive, overall score.
